In the lesson Building a Structure: Meiosis-using pipe cleaners, found on the website rubistar.4teachers.org, Mr. McConnell’s (2007) rubric teams several group members up for the assignment that has made an adequate understanding of require learner participation; one of the elements of assure model. This assignment groups students together to get actively involved in Mr. McConnell’s lesson.
It can be said that for special needs individuals working with regular learners; individuals with special needs are better able to have an understanding of the assignment when working in groups with regular leaning individuals. Regular learners are also able to grasp the concept of the lesson. So the group activity benefits both students and their participation is on-going.

The second element evaluate and revise of assure model can be included into the rubric. Evidence shows that within the above lesson Mr. McConnell’s student’s construction was careful and accurate. So in evaluating the performance of the students, the question is, were the objectives of the lesson met? The answer is partially. Mr. McConnell’s rubric indicates that even though construction was careful and accurate, 1-2 details could have been refined.
The designed rubric that has been created is combined with the lesson storytelling. In this particular designed rubric, the students would be given an assignment to write about a teenager of their choice. The usage of this rubric is for analyzing. As the instructor, my interest is in knowing the types of knowledge that the students possess. Are their strengths in writing or are they in some other subject? This also gives the instructor an idea of writing styles.
