Part One
The field of accounting is professionally stimulating and I would like to join the masters program so as to benefit from its challenging, rewarding, and versatile opportunities. Businesses are constantly looking for people with superior analytical skills that the accounting program can provide thus the interest in joining the accounting program. Theories of accounting that have been acquired through master of professional accounting are essential for handling real world business situations; whereby, the knowledge increases personal value, as well as the requisite skills or career advancement. Acquiring advanced skills in the field of accounting is the major reason for seeking admission in this master program.
In fact, admission into the program matches my career goals beginning with accreditation to international accounting organs. The first career objective in this case is to acquire accreditation with ICAA and CPA, of which, are internationally recognized professional organs that promise to improve career prospects. Having a thorough understanding of accounting principles and admission as a member of internationally recognized bodies is required for making me a highly employable and versatile graduate. As such, this has been a career goal for all my professional life and getting an admission will be essential for professional advancement.

Another career goal after completion of the program is acquisition of skills that are transferable in different organizations despite their magnitude. I have sought to work in private, non-profit, and public sectors in order to expand my experience. In addition, it is a goal to rise in the administrative hierarchy so as to gain a management position. I would like to become a manager with diverse working experience in the fields of financial management, taxation, auditing, investment, or consultancy. Therefore, after completing the program, my intention is to get into management positions that further enhance my skills and professional development in the field of accounting.
Part Two
Being a university that seeks diversity and effective learning environment, I have distinctive character and methods of work that will not only enrich the learning environment, but also enhance personal prospects in the future. I have over the years worked in different capacities to enhance my skills in administration and accounting. With 9 years of progressive experience in administrative services, book keeping, and accounting, I have developed excellent skills in management of transactions, problem analysis, and resolution of issues with articulation. Including these skills guarantees to enrich the learning environment through application of evidence based practice in every academic undertaking.
I have also created teamwork skills with exceptional research skills that have contributed to my unique personality. With time, I have become self-motivated with ability to work in diversified environments irrespective of situational conditions. In the learning environment, these skills are required to enrich knowledge acquisition through group work, consultation with colleagues, and application of current analytical skills to manage classwork. These attributes are unique and dependent on individuals thus my unique contribution to the university in its quest to creating professional managers of the future.
In addition to making the learning environment better through my skills, expertise, and analytical skills, I will have higher prospects for career progress once the program is completed. Incorporating my current professional skills and career objectives is the sure way of enhancing future prospects as having a management position in notable organization. The program will develop my current expertise and analytical skills that have proven essential in the development of professional accounting practices. As the university outlines, its major intention is to ensure that graduates have the best skills and technical knowledge relevant for becoming future leaders; therefore, concentrating in this program promises to enhance future prospects after successful completion.
Part Three
Even though I have accomplished several goals in my professional life, there are notable instances that have shaped my career path until application of this masters program. One of the major accomplishments is implementation of a new job costing system when I was working as an accountant in Fencor Contracting and Hydro excavation. In this company, I was required to process pay slips, payroll, electronic deposits, and manage employee pay according to their union requirements which was somewhat clumsy, time consuming, and prone to errors. Developing the new costing system for the company reduced operating costs, improved accounting efficiency, and personnel productivity thus its consideration as among the major accomplishments.
Working in Scarborough Campus Student’s Union marked another major accomplishment since I was required to perform accounting processes in all its three retail subsidiaries according to organizational goals. I was tasked with challenging tasks like management, training, and supervision of employees in addition to performing other duties of an accountant in such an organization. Despite, I managed to achieve a score of 95/100 during annual performance review earning a bonus for my significant contribution. Coordinating, managing, and achieving high levels of success in this high stress environment is what makes the aforementioned accomplishment most substantial in my profession up to date.
The final substantial accomplishment is the design and development of a claims procedure in ELTE carpets. The claims procedures saved the company over one million dollars since it allowed it to clear more than one year of backlogs of defective inventories within a month. Having defective inventories cost the company in terms of unaccountable reimbursements and inefficient procedures that caused accounting delays. Therefore, developing an alternative method of handling the claims not only generated savings for the company, but also proved that I had exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and system design skills to resolve real world business issues.
