Panda Antivirus Pro serves one single purpose — it protects the user’s computer from the most common types of virtual threats. And we can certainly conclude that it is doing its job well. With installing Panda, you’re getting an extremely simple, but also effective shield from the majority of viruses. However, based on my research, from all the tested AV’s, it takes up the most RAM in the system and its abilities are rather mediocre, so I would definitely pass on this one.
ESET NOD32 Smart Security is a wonderful tool for protecting your computer from various kinds of threats. It detects spam, adware, rootkits, Trojans and viruses like a charm. Unfortunately, it is too aggressive for my taste: while it gives great results, it also marks a lot of harmless files as dangerous, which gets annoying after some time. Also, it can block your access to the Internet, which it did, after I tried to change default settings.

Avast Free Antivirus is an excellent free AV, which earned its recognition amongst millions of users around the world due to its reliable protection from Trojans and viruses. The new version has an excellent intuitive interface, several new features, such as AutoSandbox and an updated intelligent Scanner, improved performance and, most importantly, one of the most extensive virus databases out there.
Dr. Web Antivirus is useful for detecting new unrecognized types of virtual threats during the Internet surfing, even on the social networks. The database of viruses is developed by independent laboratories and this definitely improves its quality. In general, there is nothing wrong with it. Unfortunately, in some cases, it significantly reduced the speed of the system and even caused it to freeze.
I use Avast Free Antivirus myself and I would suggest this software to everyone. It’s an excellent example that shows: free software can be just as good as its paid counterparts. I would say that it is my favorite from the ones that I’ve tried for this project; however, ESET NOD32 Smart Security comes in at a close second.
