The project will focus on an application that strives to provide cloud services in a healthcare system. This application will access important data such as EPCR (Electronic Patient Care record) that are deemed important to healthcare processes. The application will make use of cloud technology by implementing the different paradigms of the said technology. The application will comply with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) of the United States of America (Sultan, 2010). The application will be implemented across the nation for healthcare purposes with unique aspects of security of patient information.
Part A
The application will utilize a hybrid cloud deployment model. This type of deployment model focuses on achieving integrated success due to its integration of both public and community cloud deployment models. The unique aspects of public cloud deployment models make the application particularly owned or controlled by a public organization that ensures the services are available to the general public. The community cloud deployment model will work towards achieving the usability of the application by different organizations that generally have shared concerns. The integration of the community and public cloud deployment models will be successful in making the application appropriate for use by healthcare organizations whose needs will be catered for as defined by the provisions of the two mentioned models coming together to form a hybrid deployment model.

The hybrid model will also contain aspects of PaaS and SaaS. PaaS is a cloud computing paradigm that defined the use of software as services. Ideally, SaaS allows the consumers to make use of provider’s application that runs on cloud computing infrastructure. In other words, the application can be operated on the client’s device but still utilizes the providers cloud computing infrastructure. On the other hand, this platform as a service works towards enabling the customer to make use of cloud computing infrastructure without having control over the network, operating system of information systems contained in the infrastructure. In the PaaS, a programming language is utilized to create a platform on which the customer can access on the client’s device (Griebel et al., 2015). The PaaS may utilize a private cloud that is outsourced while the SaaS will utilize a public cloud solution.

Ideally, the PaaS will be implemented on a private cloud solution. This solution will manage the data from a business service end rather than a public entity. The PaaS will be generated on the basis of information and data control is providing access to the platform to the clients on a front-end approach. The client will, therefore, have no control over the framework of the infrastructure. The flow of services on the platform will be realized through maintaining complete control over the components of the private cloud. The implementation of the infrastructure will, therefore, be kept separate from access by the client.
The SaaS will ensure the provision of an application that can make use of the data contained in a public cloud infrastructure. It is essential to note that the application will be installed on the client’s device. This creates the possibility of the clients having full control of all the accessible components of the infrastructure as implemented on their phones. The client will, therefore, have access to full control of the operating system, networking, database and the firewall. It would also be probable that the client could initiate the operation of the infrastructure of their device. The access to data or information would, however, be allowed through the provision of credentials. The security of the application running on the client’s machine would be guaranteed.
