Some of the boons include cost savings, protection from data loss, easily movable information, and improved accessibility for clients. Some of the dangers associated with cloud storage mostly stem from cyber security concerns. With the advancement of technology comes the advancement of hackers and malware and other cyberspace dangers. The data ownership might be complicated by the hosting company, the government could have authority to invade the server, or the information could be less secure and more accessible when businesses cannot afford to pay for the increased protection. These risks of intrusion provide an invitation for ambitious hackers, as one site observes “Because cloud computing is still relatively new, hackers see it as a significant avenue to test their skills” (Sullivan, 2015, section 9). While these issues are not necessarily a guaranteed presence, it is important for business owners to be aware of these problems to make an informed decision about the use of cloud storage.
