There is a saying that “Diversity is the art of thinking independently together”. I agree with this because it is different when you play, learn, interact or work with someone you do not usually share a common culture with. I was born in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. I have tried diversity community when I was 14. I have travelled with my family to various destinations such as Newcastle, England since my father was pursuing his PhD degree there. I have interacted with many people from different communities as well as cultures such as Egyptians, Algerians, and Libyans. I noticed a significant different in them from my community when I was in Saudi Arabia. While in England, I interacted with people from different backgrounds and societies through simple and interactive activities such as playing soccer with my friends. Through such activity, I have learned and understood the concepts of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and felt how the experience is enjoyable. I am hoping the college experience will leave a familiar environment for exploring new geographical and social climate.
I pride myself in being intelligent and creative. I always ensure that I assess any situation before editing or making potential choices. I believe my ability to view a broad picture about life and other issues would enrich an inclusive and diverse community, implying that it would include an uncommon way of solving problems and making decisions. Another trait about me is being open-minded especially within a diverse environment. Through the experience I have gained while interacting with people from different communities, I have developed a habit of accepting and living with other individuals from diverse mindset, ethnicity, and background. With this characteristic, I consider other people’s judgement as secondary while favoring communication and understanding individuals based on human knowledge and equitability.

I am looking forward and very much interested to join a number of clubs that enhance the lives of people in the society and help in bridging the gap between the institution and the people around us. Every individual is special and unique and should be understood for who they are. Presence of diversity helps in understanding the character and nature of people from different backgrounds and I believe the University of Colorado Boulder offers an environment for promoting that diversity. One of the organizations I am interested to join is Students for Community because it offers an easy way that enables students to take part in the community and welcome the concept of “different”. It also offers the best opportunity to assist students to embrace diversity. I am committed to look for strong extracurricular and academic focus in the university and I strongly believe that the University of Colorado Boulder offers such experience.
