Jen means humanity or to be humane. It’s used to distinguish and analyze what makes a human humane, like being able to express empathy, respect, or dignity, instead of classifying them amongst the other beasts. It emphasizes the differences between man and beast, delving deeper into the obvious differences like being able to respect another human being.
Li
Li is the rule of gain or the act of gaining. It emphasizes and analyzes why people seek out relationships and what they intend to gain from those relationships within society. Basically, the Li is the idea that considers what each person, as an individual and as a group, gains when they socialize with one another and branch out to create other relationships.

Yi
Yi is the moral obligation to do good or the act of being righteous and forthright. It is the act of being and doing good. It includes the capability to know and feel right from wrong.
Hsiao
Hsiao is the respect of one’s parents being that they created the being in question. It is the respecting of those that have provided for you. It emphasizes the obligation to bringing honor and respect to the family and always respecting someone who has respected and brought honor to you.
Chih
Chih is defined as the knowledge of right and wrong and being able to differentiate between the two. The subject in question should be able to use their knowledge bestowed upon them by their creator to analyze a situation at every angle and then determine the right solution and act on it instead of the wrong.
