A 77-years old female suffers from dyspepsia which results from COPD. She exhibits mood shifts all the time. One day, she may be nice and polite to me, and another day she gets angry or asks to leave her alone. Sometimes she sounds like being on edge to ask for a more skillful and experienced professional. Her conduct may be caused by the fact that I am a student and she does not believe in my professionalism and in-depth knowledge that I receive during my studies.

The event is related to an ethical dilemma that nurse students face very often. Sinclair, Papps, and Marshall (2016) state that nurse students frequently experience a problem of neglect on the part of the patient that blame them in their incompetence and does not allow to provide them with adequate support and service. In many cases, it affects negatively the students` level of achievements and destroys their motivation and self-belief.

The nurse should establish close interpersonal relationships with a patient;
The nurse should ensure that the patient is always safe because the students` performance is supervised and always monitored carefully.
The student should use various intervention practices to make a patient feel comfortable and, thus, prove their competence.
The nurse should demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the subject and nursing practices that are currently used in the health care system.
The nurse should manage to answer all the questions that a patient asks them and be able to satisfy all their needs and requirements.
Standard of Practice
The case is referred to standard two which is Knowledge-based Practice. It means that a nurse demonstrates a profound knowledge of nursing practices and intervention. This standard requires nurses to know how and where useful data can be found. Competent nurse shares their skills and knowledge with other students, nurses, and patients.
