The academic culture in the movie “Legally Blonde” is mixed. The main character, Elle Warner, studies hard at fashion merchandising at the beginning of the film but is more interested in her extra-curriculars and her sorority. After being dumped by her boyfriend, she is determined to win him back by attending Harvard Law School, where she is immediately dismissed by everyone around her. Despite this, she studies hard because she is motivated to help her friend and make the most of the experience. Elle is motivated by the fact that she appears to be doing well in her courses and applies for an internship, which she gets, much to her surprise.
There are some elements of good academic integrity in the film. Elle never cheats on any of her admissions or her exams and does well because she studies hard. Despite this, her ex-boyfriend Warner only gets into Harvard Law School because his father made a call, which goes against equal opportunities. In addition to this, it turns out that Elle only wins the internship with her professor because she is attractive, and he wants to make a pass at her. This would be against both the law and the rules of academic integrity.

Some parts of the culture in this film are similar to the culture at the University of Oklahoma. The fact that you can study hard and get ahead is the same, as are some of the elements of the classrooms shown in the film. The academic integrity is much higher at the University of Oklahoma, as you cannot get your parents to get you into the school and professors would be fired if they made a pass at a student. Overall, “Legally Blonde” is an uplifting film that shows that working hard is important but is not very representative of the academic culture in the real world.
