My addiction to television began when I was about ten years old and it somewhat saddens me that I could have spent some of this precious time instead, with my lovely family. I remember that I would wake up very early every Sunday morning just to make sure that I could catch all of my favorite cartoons. While I enjoyed a number of different programs, there was one cartoon that was broadcasted every Sunday morning that I could not miss no matter what.
The name of the cartoon is “Doraemon,” which is a Japanese anime series that is also broadcasted in my native language Hindi. The cartoon centers around this blue and white robotic cat that travels back in time to help a young boy named Nobita Nobi. One special thing about Daemon is that he has a pocket in which he keeps these special gadgets. For example, he has something called a “bamboo-copter” that allows his to fly and an “anywhere door” that lets him open anything he wants. I think that the show initially captivated me because of these gadgets in that I use to fantasize about having all of these cool powers myself.

I still enjoy watching the show today, although not as religiously as when I was younger. There are many reasons as to why I still love watching this show even though I am older: It makes me feel comfortable, it makes me smile, and it makes me remember all of the fun memories that I had watching the show with my friends. Since I began high school; however, I have tried to decrease the amount of time that I spend watching television.
When I do have the time, I prefer watching more useful and education programs, such historical documentaries, shows about science (especially ones about animals), and some criminal investigation shows. I enjoy and appreciate them more now that I am older because they broaden my view and understanding of the world in which we live.
