Throughout my life, I have always wanted to associate myself with oral and teeth health. My passion developed when I encountered a scenario where my friend had a dental cavity, and the pain never allowed him to concentrate on his studies. I felt uncomfortable that I could not do anything at the moment to help him out. The scenario made me develop a passion for treating people with dental challenges. I started ensuring that everyone in our household maintained excellent oral health. At school and home, they started calling me a dentist. The title motivated me to become a dentist in the future. I admitted that I was a young dreamer hoping that one day I will solve mysteries like the one my friend faced. With the skills and experience acquired from my childhood to adulthood, I managed to study hard, and I managed to pursue a biological course that would lead me to become a dentist. I am now a pre-dental student studying to become a qualified dentist. I enjoy the services that I can offer comfortably, such as dental awareness, exploring protocols, and observing the dentist and other technicians conduct X-rays. In the process, I have acquired the essential skills that I never had.
My primary objective in pursuing a dentistry career is to ensure that people, especially kids, no longer fear dentists. Also, I need to ensure that kids understand the need for healthy teeth and maintain oral hygiene. In some ways, dentistry can be an exciting path to follow, given that the involved parties observe the dentist’s instructions. Pre-dental is among courses that require much effort and commitment for you to succeed. The best way to achieve at any time considered difficult is by ensuring personal growth, investing in yourself, and concentrating on your professional development to reach on top of your goals. Although dentistry is a challenging career, I need to prove to my community that I can offer better services to the members by dealing with their dental challenges and creating awareness about similar dental issues. In doing so, I have a chance to become an expert in this field of study and possibly make essential inventions in the future.

Considering change
Life is constantly changing; to survive, we must learn how to embrace change and adapt to new situations. My life is no exception, for I have experienced a fair share of changes myself, some of which, I must admit, am still learning to handle. One of the significant changes I experienced apart from puberty, of course, happened in recent times while joining college. It was both exciting and scary at the same time for me. Joining college meant that I had the opportunity to pursue my career goals and the love I had for science, but it also meant that I had to be away from home on my own and learn how to deal with situations on my own. Though it is not long before I joined, I am already adapting to my new environment, and the fear I had at the beginning is less if not completely gone.
This year will go down in history as one of the most eventful years worldwide. The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic forced a new way of life down our throats. To prevent the spread of the SARS-COV2 virus, commonly known as the coronavirus, required implementation of measures such as maintaining social distance, wearing masks in public areas, and in some places, even lockdowns. Schools and learning institutions, including my college, had to be shut down. The school rolled out a plan to continue with classes online, which in my opinion, proved to be not as effective as in-person learning due to the nature of my science course that requires hands-on participation in practicals and procedures. Although face-to-face learning activities resumed, it was under strict measures that required adherence to the protocols laid out to ensure that we remain safe from the virus on campus. Not experiencing the full college experience during my freshman year has been a downside to my expectations before joining campus. Still, it is understandable that our health and safety is a priority to the institutions. It is also inspiring to learn about the science community’s efforts in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. This makes me more passionate about the course I am pursuing.
