The Coca-Cola Company was founded in the year 1886 by a pharmacist known as Dr. John Pemberton (“Coca-Cola History,” 2018). Pemberton later sold part of his company to investors in order to expand it This sale later proved to be an important decision because John Pemberton died shortly after the sale, leaving Coca-Cola in the capable hands of his new investors. Coca-Cola built its first large-scale bottling factory in the year 1899 and made major improvements in the company’s income. However, the bottling technique gave an opportunity for competitors who also imitated the bottling designs in to try and attain the success that Coca-Cola had. In order to improve sales, the company adopted marketing strategies such as giving out free samples and making advertisements that associated Coca-Cola with fun activities (“Coca-Cola Sampling,” 2012). Coca-Cola has continued being innovating in advertising until today by using captivating slogans innovative advertisements as well as adopting new technology.

The Coca-Cola Company has an innovation culture that has helped it stay ahead of its competitors. Innovation has been part of the Coca-Cola Company since it was established. The Company finds new ways to advertise in different regions and seasons across the world. A good example of how Coca-Cola uses innovation in advertising is making different advertisements that would suit different regions across the world. For instance, when making an advertisement for the American market, the company ensures that American people can relate to the advertisement’s theme by using American actors and a language that is popular in the country. Additionally, the Coca-Cola Company makes advertisements according to seasons. For instance, during Christmas, all advertisements would have a Christmas theme. The Coca-Cola Company also uses innovative techniques in packaging and branding; this ensures that the products always have an appealing fresh look that keeps the consumers captivated.

As an innovative leader, my vision is to use the available resources to come up with products that are more appealing to the existing and potential consumers of the Coca-Cola products. I would also consider people who are unable to consume the Coca-Cola products due to health-related issues. In order to cater for these customers, I would encourage the Company to manufacture products that can be consumed by such people. My proposed organizational structure is the functional organizational structure. According to (“Gaspar” 2006), a functional organizational structure is a structure that divides an Company into departments that are based on the Company’s basic specialties, for instance, marketing and production. With this structure, every department would be able to make its own innovation based on the employees’ specialties. This structure would improve innovation in the Company as every aspect of the product would be designed by a team that considers innovation as one of the top priorities.

In order to create an innovative environment for all the employees, I would recommend that every department is headed by an innovative leader who would be entrusted with the responsibility to lead the department and train the employees to be innovative thinkers. Unlike other Companies where the leader is given the responsibility to make all the crucial innovative decisions, my strategy for this Company would be to let the employees develop their own innovative concepts. Every employee would be free to innovate and come up with new ideas that can help the Company to develop. In order to ensure that the innovations do not end up making the company steer away from its goals, managers and department heads will be expected to supervise, check, and approve or disapprove new innovations developed by the employees. However, the managers would give the employees time to demonstrate how the innovations would be able to help the Company develop. This would help the employees keep the Company momentum as opposed to rejecting ideas before they have been fully developed.
