Currently, our company is at an excellent growth stage. Our customer base is rapidly increasing and several new employees have been hired within the last three months. Several months ago, staff members were introduced to a basic training course for Skype, an online communication system that allows employees to shares files and engage with customers through video chat and instant messaging. Implementation of Skype is essential to the growth of the business because it provides for more personalized customer service and creates better relationships between the employees and non-local clients. Unfortunately, Skype is also available for personal use and has led to employees using it for both personal and business purposes.
If the company receives approval for the grant, employees will receive training that will increase their knowledge of Skype by teaching them how to use the more advanced features and online security. The company will hire a certified Skype trainer who will conduct an eight-hour training course for two days at four hours each. Employees will learn how to use Skype’s features, troubleshoot common technical issues, and learn methods for requesting and obtaining customer information via Skype without risking exposure of personalized information for customers and the company to unintended parties who may use clients’ personal information for identity theft. Additionally, the funds will be used to implement monitoring software that will enable the business to monitor employees’ usage and deter personal use that does not contribute to productivity in the workplace. The software will also ensure employees are using the techniques from the training course to continually ensure customers’ confidential information remains secure and allow the business to determine the employees that need additional training in certain areas.
