My purpose in seeking advanced graduate education is to gain skills and knowledge for in-depth policy research, and to participate in critical solution making targeting the complex issues that society today. Such complexities are reflected in the unique development and diplomatic policies mandated by a changing global culture. Graduate education will build on my previous knowledge to position me in the academia in such a way that I can contribute to the public policy arena in a professional and competent manner.
My research interests are to examine salient facets of the public policy process that can bridge the gap between the development of strong public policies and their definition in terms that can be efficiently implemented while retaining the characteristics of resilience and flexibility. This would mean exploring the public policy process beyond the key steps of problem identification, policy formulation, implementation and results evaluation. For instance, it is particularly very important to review current models for policy evaluation as this is a critical stage that is typically ongoing.

Policy changes are made in the course of assessing the effectiveness of a new policy in addressing an identified problem. Efficient ways of defining such changes such that emerging environmental and global issues that impact on the problem are strategically acknowledged are critical. It is important to maintain a balanced focus on public good and resource maximization. Given that public policy impacts every aspect of life social, cultural and economic, it is important that the process be refined such that clear pathways connect policies and their intended outcomes.
Graduate education will enable me develop critical research focus as well as sharpen my skills to participate in the search for solutions and innovative models of practice in public policy.
